Personal

Evangeline, Caydia, and Daddy went on a mission last week to do something special for mommy in preparation for Mother’s Day. After an afternoon of quality time, this is what we came up with.

To the best mommy a family could have…we love you Carey!!!

In October 2010 we set out on a family vacation/adventure to the Florida coast. This is part 1 of our two-part highlight film.

Christmas Wishes

Although Daniel will not let me decorate for Christmas until AFTER Thanksgiving, it is never too early to wish you all a very Merry Christmas from the Estrada Family!

Family Vacation to Anna Maria Island and Disneyworld {Daddy’s Favs}

Well, we made it back safe and sound (despite our girls being a little under the weather most of the trip), and of course we had to share the joy. This first batch of goodies are my favorites (d), and I’m sure mommy will be posting hers up in the near future.       Hope you enjoy!!!

Little Evie climbed up in the beach chair next to me with her cool shades, and let me know all was well!

Yes, the Estrada clan made it back home this morning from a GRUELING 10 day vacation to Florida where we soaked up the rays on Anna Maria Island, toured Busch Gardens in Tampa, and of course overdosed on Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios. We have so much to post (more pics and video), but I just wanted get a quick fun one up. This was taken on the Dumbo Ride!

More to come…

Evie’s First Day of Preschool

Okay okay, I know I am a little late posting Evie’s first day of preschool pictures, but the surprise surgeries put me a little behind.  Luckily I was released from the hospital just long enough to take our daughter to her first day of CLC at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, TX!  She was so excited about going to school and meeting new friends, but I could tell by her awkward smile that she was little nervous.  Only two weeks into the program and she comes home praising God, praying, singing songs, spelling words and enthusiastically telling us all about it!  I wish I could spy on her while she is busy at school and see her in action!  Love this little girl!

The Power of Story (pt. 1)

My mother tells me that I loved to read as a boy. I was of course oblivious to this fact until a few holiday visits ago when she showed me the small library of books that I used to leaf through as a child. ‘Danny the Dinosaur’, ‘Wolfie’, and a host of childrens’ reader series had been stacked in a closet. In an instant I was taken back…Oh yeah…I DID love to read!
As I look back over my life, I’ve also seen a massive amount of movies. Hours too many to count have been logged reclining in a movie theater, or at the rental store searching for the perfect movie to fit my mood. I’ve always thought movies and books were HUGE time wasters, but my perspective has recently changed.
What I’ve come to realize is that I love a great story. Books and movies are the vehicle to another place. I don’t care to simply be entertained, but to be involved. To somehow participate in the story unfolding before me is what I crave. I think we all have that desire really. To engage, to interact, to be moved, to see ourselves within the narrative. It should be no surprise that our Creator wired each of us with this desire to be caught up in a story. Whether it’s our own, or someone elses…God communicates to us through story.
I would love to write more, but I’ll end this post with two questions:

1) What story have you read (or seen) recently that captured you?
2) What does this story reflect back about yourself?

She’s growing up too fast!

Last week was Evie’s first day of preschool, and was she EXCITED! With her painted pink backpack, and a Spongebob lunchbox in tow, she walked right up…hugged the teacher…and gave us a wave. Still can’t decide if that’s a good thing…or a SAD thing. *sigh*

Had to stop off for her (and Mommy’s) favorite breakfast at Einsteins before the big day…

Daddy’s totin’ the iPhone, but as you can see…mom brought the big gun!

Daddy’s fav…she’s so excited!
